A revisit of the past 6 years of UK QuakeWorld packed into another chaotic weekend

Congratulations to team er (grind and nih) for winning the byqw tournament 2! They beat team [fs] (razor and fill-in qui) narrowly on dm3 and ztndm3. Also congratulations to third place winners team camped (jetli and john_rambo) who beat team slippers (tezz and falc) in the third place playoff match.

The first day of battle has now been completed. The results and seedings have been updated - check them out to see where you stand.

Sunday's games kick off one hour earlier than today, 1pm, so please don't be late! Every team plays this one round then half the teams will be knocked out. For the guys who get knocked out early feel free to organise some games in the background - ask me if you require a server.

We now have a full quota of teams, thanks to all who have signed up - we'll see you tomorrow in #byqw at about 1:30 onwards tomorrow. Server IP's will be pasted in the IRC channel before each game as well as on this page under the fixtures. Please note we have a low tolerance for people arriving late, however we may allow people to enter a game in progress if one member of the team is already playing.

The signups to the bygames pure QuakeWorld tournament 2 which takes place on August 30th and August 31st are now open. When signing up as a 2 player team please be sure to include both player names (no time wasting aliases thanks), both players email addresses and your team name. If you are a lone ranger you can also enter - simply enter your own name/email and we can partner you up with another lone player. Please note that this tournament is on a first come first served basis and we will be prioritising United Kingdom teams due to the nature of this event.

PLEASE NOTE: As Clan Arena has been thrown into the mix for two rounds please only signup if you are prepared to play Clan Arena (in a 2v2v2v2 format) as well as Team Deathmatch (in both 2v2v2v2 and 2v2 formats).

We will be running a 16 team (2 players per team) weekend tournament on August 30th (Saturday) and August 31st (Sunday). The tournament will be structured in two halves, the first being a group stage played on Saturday and the second being a single elimination knockout tournament played on Sunday.

The first half, known as the group stage, will be played as 2v2v2v2 matches - the matches will be allocated by random draw in four stages. The group stage will consist of two Team Deathmatch rounds and two Clan Arena rounds - so please be prepared to play both gametypes! The winner of each game receives 4 points, 2nd place receives 3 points, 3rd place receives 2 points and 4th place receives 1 point. These points are then totalled up so we can seed teams for the second half. If teams are tied on score we will use frag difference to decide seed.

In the second half, played as a single elimination knockout structure, we will seed teams and initially play one 2v2v2v2. The top two teams per match then progress and the bottom two will be knocked out. The following games are then played as 2v2 all the way to the final.
