United Kingdom QuakeWorld Team: 2002
 Home » About

December 17th, 2001 - QuakeWorld: 5 years & counting...

What?

The United Kingdom QuakeWorld Team is a group of 12 players (10 per game and 2 substitutes), which has been formed to play similar teams from other nations at QuakeWorld.

Matches take the format of 10v10 on death32c over 3 games of 30 minutes each, both teams are allowed 2 substitutes during and between games - other rules have not been finalised at this point.

Why?

Fun, competition, something to pass the time, but mostly fun! The UK may not be the strongest QuakeWorlding nation, however there is still a small but active community and what better way to celebrate QW's 5th birthday?

Who?

By it's very nature the UK Team over the years has taken many shapes and forms, lying dormant for long periods and being led by legendary names such as Rawmeat (heh), Spirit, Coerj and Sujoy at others.

This new incarnation is captained and organised by blitz- of clan Denial, a newcomer to the game in comparison to the previous names mentioned, he is aided in his task by gibbs of clan Four Kings (think of them as a Batman and Robin for the 21st Century).

The team will be selected from all applying candidates based upon history, performance in trials and the final judgement of the Selection Committee, which is made up of:

  - blitz- (Captain)
  - gibbs

  - kryten (Four Kings representative)
  - oppy (Denial representative)
  - telly (JAMS representative)
  - sui (Warped Reality representative)

Being the UK Team only players from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland may apply as otherwise there wouldn't really be much point would there.

It's likely that the team will change and evolve over time as players come and go, so expect reselections (and possibly complete trials) from time to time as needed.

To see the current team please visit the Squad section.

When?

The first trials were held on Sunday 30th December 2001, any future trials, changes and reselections will be announced in the news section.

Where?

As this is international QuakeWorld, official games will almost certainly be held on European servers in Germany, Holland, Denmark etc.
