Judgement Day -1 (updated) 29/12.01
That's right my friends, the hour is almost upon us, the trials are but 24 hours away! There has been a late surge in sign-ups and the list has now bloated to over thirty:
anselmo, blitz-, caustic, chad, clarkus, darff, dynamic, ewdafa, fragnasty, gibbs, grind, jetli, kranium, kryten, limey, m0rph, mizunokojo, nih, r, rabid, sae, storm, sui, telly, term, tezz, tronus, vibes, wandy, whisk & yeti
From the above we have used a seeding system to form four teams of 8 players, each team should get two games, however that number may increase on the actual evening. The teams are:

Team A: ewdafa, jetli, mizunokojo, r, term, tronus, wandy & yeti.
Team B: anselmo, blitz-, caustic, dyanmic, grind, limey, nih & sae.
Team C: chad, fragnasty, gibbs, kranium, kryten, rabid, telly & whisk.
Team D: clarkus, darff, m0rph, sheep, storm, sui, tezz & vibes.

A few of the earlier sign-ups have been excluded for various reasons, however the teams will likely change on the actual day depending on who does/doesn't show.

All games will be dmm1 and timelimit 20, with powerups on (no dropping). The order of proceedings will be:

  20:00 - A vs. C
  20:30 - B vs. D
  21:00 - A vs. D
  21:30 - B vs. C

The server will be hosted at UKGamer as mentioned before so test your pings at 212.42.1.195:27521, unfortunatly there will be no local Qizmo, so please use BarrysWorld 1 or 2.

On the client side, we have also decided to make the trials Qizmo+QWCL only, apologies for such late notice but everyone *should* have this set-up on their systems. It is possible that we may allow MQWCL depending upon how many players complain or have good reasons for using it, however it isn't likely and in the long run it seems as if Qizmo+QWCL will be used for the possible European Cup, so it would be wise to get used to it if you are serious about International QuakeWorld.

Finally, and most importantly, all players MUST turn up to #qwteam.uk at least 10 minutes before 20:00 (8 PM) on Sunday evening to guarantee a place, people are dedicating their spare time to this so please make an effort. Once again the server & password will be given out in the channel topic when the trials begin.

Good luck.

note: a .loc file has been put up in the files section if needed.

Trial Server 26/12.01
Thanks to rocker and the crew over at UKGamer we now have a MVD server up running the very (and I mean very) latest KTPro, that's capable of handling 20+ players and is an amazing 1ms from Barrysworld.

The box is hosted in Telehouse so pings should be great, however it would be a good idea for everyone planning on trialling to hop on well before the date to check your routing is ok. The address is:

212.42.1.195:27521
That port is public and can be used in general, however it's not likely to be permanent. The actual trial server will go up just prior to the trials with passwords etc.

So a big thanks to rocker of UKGamer/UKGN and oppy, without who the server (and this webspace) would not have been possible.

Let's Get This Party Started 18/12.01
Welcome to the new UK Team site, cobbled together in double-time by mr. r, have a good look around and especially at the About section which should cover most of the questions you may have (they rest will become clear post trials).

Speaking of which! Trials will be held on Sunday, 30th December 2001 between 20:00 and 22:00 GMT on spike.barrysworld.com (213.221.174.193:27500). All players interested in taking part in the trials must e-mail me in advance, so that we can get an idea of numbers likely to turn up, avoid chaos on the day and hopefully make the trials more fair than a simple rpickup. The actual details of the trials, including server passwords, teams etc. will only be given out just prior to 20:00 GMT and only in #qwteam.uk on Quakenet, so all players will have to visit the channel to get the details (it's a good idea to pop by from time to time if you are interested anyway).

As of today this date is final, however if it turns out this is a problem for the majority of players it can and will be changed, but if the majority can and a few unfortunatly cannot make the date, it seems unlikely to change (all cases will be dealt with induvidually so if you have a problem, contact me).

Site Live! 18/12.01
Everything is up and working, Squad & Matches are empty (for obvious reasons) and other sections are subject to change. I'm just waiting on blitz- to submit some news with trial dates etc.
